US Vice President Mike Pence is visting Kansas City, Missouri tomorrow (11 July). He’s heading to the Midwestern state to help fundraise for Rep. Kevin Yoder who is defending his seat in November’s midterm elections.

Kansas City residents are preparing themselves to welcome Pence — some in more unique ways than others.

Alternative radio station 96.5 The Buzz announced on Twitter they’re throwing a ‘sausage fest’ to welcome Pence to the city.

The reason for the party has to do with Pence’s anti-LGBTQ record.

‘Pence is no fan of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re no fan of his,’ the station tweeted out.

‘So we’re throwing The Mike Pence Sausage Fest across the street at Barney Allis Plaza starting at 11a. Stop by and get a free hot dog while we have them!’

The Human Rights Campaign recently called Pence one of the ‘greatest threats to equality‘.

In another tweet, The Buzz encouraged people to bring flags and signs for the cook-out/protest.

‘Stay out of politics’

Reactions to the station’s event have been mixed, but most people are praising it.

When one person told the station to ‘stay out of politics’, they had a pretty great comeback.

This is not a strange response to Pence visiting cities across the country.

When he traveled to Ohio last month for a right-wing conference, thousands of people showed up to protest him with a ‘Big LGBTQ Dance Party‘.
