Drag queen Laganja Estranja appeared on last night’s season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance. And her audition made everyone’s jaws drop.
The competitive dance show is currently in its fifteenth season.
Estranja auditioned in Beverly Hills, California for judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Vanessa Hudgens, as well as guest judge and past contestant tWitch.
Her audition reel began with a video package about her relationship with drag and identifying as an effeminate man.
Then the fireworks really began.

Did she make it to the Academy?
When dancers audition for the show, the judges have to decide whether or not to send them to the Academy.
This is the portion of the show before the main competition where dancers perform in a variety of genres, proving their talent is versatile. From there, the Top 20 is determined.
So did Estranja make it?
Lythgoe praised some of her bold moves, but ultimately said no. Hudgens, then, gave her a yes because of her magnetic presence and the joy she brings.
tWitch also ultimately said yes and then it was up to Murphy. With one glance back to the audience cheering Estranja on, Murphy said yes.
Estranja — who is no stranger to performing — is going to the Academy!

Another star
Also on the episode was gay tap dancer Eddie Hoyt. He shared his coming out story growing up in a religious family and totally wowed the judges.
He even had a dance off with tWitch!
