Latine Celebrities and Spanish-language Media Stand with LGBTQ Youth on #SpiritDay 2024

Written by

GLAAD’s #SpiritDay is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the bullying faced by LGBTQ youth, especially transgender and nonbinary youth.

Observed on the third Thursday of October, millions wear purple as a sign of solidarity and support, to honor those who have been affected by bullying, and to promote a culture of acceptance and respect.

As a powerful reminder that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of their identity, hundreds of Latine and Spanish-speaking celebrities, media organizations, performers, artists, influencers, and TV hosts across the country wore purple and stood with LGBTQ youth.

The Spanish-language and Latine Media Department at GLAAD plays a vital role in promoting LGBTQ representation and advocacy within Spanish-speaking communities. By working closely with Latine celebrities, influencers, and media outlets, the department strives to amplify authentic narratives and foster acceptance.

Through initiatives that highlight diverse stories, provide resources, and encourage dialogue, GLAAD is committed to creating a more inclusive media landscape that resonates with Spanish-speaking audiences and champions equality for all.
