In the tragic moments following Demi Lovato rushing to the hospital due to an alleged overdose last night (24 July), many celebrities took to social media to express their love for the singer.
The initial reports by TMZ claimed it was a heroin overdose, but were later denied.
Another source then told People the singer was stable in the early hours of today (25 July). They also stated the overdose wasn’t heroin-related.
‘Demi is awake and with her family’
Furthermore, a spokesperson for the artist released the following statement.
‘Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support.’
‘Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.’
Demi Lovato has always been vocal about her own battles
The Skyscraper singer, who was going to perform in Atlantic City on 26 July, has been struggling with substance abuse all of her life.
Lovato, who revealed she is attracted to both men and women, has also been vocal about battling her own demons and helped fight the stigma surrounding mental health issues and addiction.
As if you need yet another reason to love her, she offered fans free therapy sessions before her concerts.
Ellen and Gaga tweeted their support
Lesbian legend Ellen DeGeneres was among the first celebrities to express their solidarity.
