She’s one of the show’s most memorable guest stars ever. And it seems Madonna’s iconic appearance on Will & Grace was especially memorable for Sean Hayes…
Speaking at a promo day in London last night, the actor shared a hilarious story about his experience of working with the Material Girl.
Halfway through, the star seemed to have doubts about sharing the tale, saying at one point: ‘I don’t know why I’m telling this story…’
‘I was like: “She hates me!”‘
‘She was wonderful. She came in, did the table read, and was great,’ he said. ‘I know she was nervous, so to make her feel good I was praising her. I was like “That’s funny when you do that!” and ‘That’s really great!”
‘She said, quote: “Thank you. I live for your approval.”‘

He furthermore added: ‘I was like, “Oh my god, my idol, she hates me!”‘
Madonna appeared in the episode Dolls and Dolls in 2003, playing Karen’s roommate.
‘I love Matt Damon’
Sean was joined at the Q&A by Megan Mullally, who plays Karen. The pair agreed that their favorite guest star ever was Matt Damon.
‘I love Matt, he’s such a good guy,’ said Sean, with Megan chiming in: ‘Me too – I love him in many senses…’
Will & Grace is currently enjoying a successful revival. The ninth season is currently airing on NBC in the US and Channel 5 in the UK.

Last month, Sean again made headlines when he opened up about his mom’s heartbreaking reaction when he came out to her.
He told PEOPLE: ‘My mom said I needed to go see a therapist. She wrote me a 10-page letter, both sides on legal pad size paper. “This is not what God …” You know, the whole uneducated view of it.’
However, things got better between them over time.
‘She became educated and had friends who [were] gay people,’ he said. ‘She was like, “Oh I see. You’re just like me,” and all that. It became fine and wonderful, and then she became so supportive and awesome.’
