Maine Pushes State Sponsored LGBTQ “Outdoor Extravaganza”

Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (DIFW) released a statement yesterday encouraging people to sign up for its “Traps+Trails LGBTQAI+ Winter Outdoor Extravaganza.”

“Folks of all identities, abilities, and experience levels are welcome to join us for a day of fun and learning in the Maine outdoors! Whether you are a part of the queer community or an outdoor ally, you’re invited,” said the DIFW in its posting for the event.

The event is careful to avoid accusations of discrimination by opening the event to “ally’s” of the queer community, rather than just the LGBTQ people themselves, although it suggests that the state is still restricting the event to those who agree politically with the LGBTQIA+ agenda.

The DIFW’s event comes as a partnership with various outdoor companies, such as L.L. Bean, and Fenton’s Bait Shop, but it also represents the state government explicitly partnering with far-left activist groups, something which, under Gov. Janet Mills (D-Maine) has become quite common.

These groups include Queerly ME, which pushes “queer centered outdoor programming,” Out in the Open, which seeks to increase LGBT “visibility” in rural areas, or Out Maine, which explicitly seeks to promote the LGBT agenda with regard to children.

“By supporting LGBTQ+ youth and their families, empowering queer youth in our Maine communities, and educating providers, we help create welcoming and affirming spaces needed by our LGBTQ+ population,” says Out Maine.

The event is scheduled to take place on February 17 at Range Rock Pond in Poland, ME.

The LGBTQIA+ Outdoor Extravaganza is not the first time the state has tried to push far-left ideology using its outdoor programs.

In November, Maine’s Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry (ACF) decided to offer free passes to state parks based solely on race.

That program was quickly halted, however, after the state began to receive negative attention for its explicit racial discrimination.
