The skies were grey and the heavens opened over the Filipino capital on Saturday, but that didn’t stop thousands from celebrating the Manila Pride event.

‘Rise Up Together’ was 2018 parade theme

The theme this year was ‘Rise Up Together’ and the event was held as the nation’s Supreme Court heard closing arguments ahead of a review of a ban on same-sex marriage.

According to local reports, between 20,000 and 25,000 people from the Filipino LGBTI community braved the weather to support the Metro Manila Pride March.
