How long have you lived in Perth?
I moved to Perth from Los Angeles around the end November, so coming up on three months now.
What’s great about living in Perth?
The weather is fantastic, the beaches are beautiful, and everyone I’ve met has been super-welcoming and has shown me a good time.
Are there any downsides to living in Perth?
I haven’t run into too many downsides yet, but I’ve heard it gets pretty slow in the wintertime. Beyond that, just the usual struggles of moving to a new place and figuring out how to settle in.
Where do you go out in Perth?
Back when it was still open, before New Years, I was heading to Ice Cream Factory a lot. Beyond that, I’ve just been going wherever my mates take me as they all know the best spots better than I would yet. Rottnest Island is a favourite.
Which is your favourite beach?
I can’t say that I’ve picked a favourite yet, but I live right by Cottesloe Beach and that’s been a great spot to have a swim in the morning and wake up for the day.
Where do you go on vacation?
I’ve been living in top vacation spots for the past few years, so my day-to-day life has been incredible. But, when I have a week off, I like to head back home to Connecticut in the US and catch up with the family and friends I grew up with.
How did you get into modelling?
It actually started from working on the TV show Dance Moms. I was on the crew there and Abby Lee Miller basically picked me to be her arm-candy at red carpet events. I had no idea I’d be getting into the industry, as I moved to LA to be an athlete. But, she told me that I needed to get some headshots done and get my look out there. One thing led to another and now, here we are.
What next for Sam?
There’s no way I could ever predict what will happen next in my life — I wasn’t even sure I’d be moving to Australia until about three weeks before I hopped on the plane. I have been playing some footy out here, so hopefully I can be successful with that and make an impact on the game while also travelling around the world as a model and an actor, and experiencing everything life has to offer.
