What Is a Travel Trailer?

travel trailer is a towable RV. They are typically smaller than other RVs out there, which makes them easier to tow with an everyday vehicle. Travel trailers range from 10 to 40 feet long. Depending on the size, you can find a travel trailer perfect for a single solo camper or an entire family. They can weigh as little as 1,200 pounds or as much as 9,000 and have a range of prices. It all depends on what you’re looking for.

Top Eye-Catching Travel Trailers

Here are the top travel trailers bound to catch your eye:

1. Safari Condo Alto –  The Safari Condo Alto travel trailer has it all. It is lightweight while being durable and aerodynamic. There are several versions of the Alto trailer, but they all have a few things in common that set them apart from other trailers.

First, they are “green” travel trailers. They minimize drag by using ultralight materials, which helps you save on gas. It also allows you to tow the Safari Condo Alto with a smaller vehicle. Not to mention, most of the materials are recyclable.

They make the roof and walls with a plastic honeycomb core to cut down even further on weight. The coolest of the Alto series is the R series. This teardrop-shaped trailer has a hard-top roof that extends to give you 101″ (about 8.5 feet) of height when it is open. But it is reduced to just 83.5″ (about 7 feet) when you retract the roof.

Depending on which version you go for, the Alto can sleep between 3 and 6 people. They all weigh under 3,000 pounds and have all the amenities you would expect in a travel trailer, including a bed, bath, and kitchen.

2. Northern Lite Boreal Trailer –  This travel trailer has a unique appearance. The exterior is an industry-first one-piece construction. This means it has no seams, making it totally leakproof. Most people think of aluminum when they think of travel trailers. However, the Northern Lite Boreal is made out of fiberglass.

The Northern Lite Boreal is 23 feet long and weighs 6,500 pounds. It sleeps up to four and has an interior height of 6’8″. Another unique feature about this travel trailer is that it is designed for four-season comfort. It has heat enclosed tanks in the basement. With a 35,000 BTU ducted furnace and 13,500 BTU air conditioner with a heat pump, you will be truly comfortable in any weather.

3. Airstream Basecamp –  When you’re driving down the road, it is next to impossible to miss an Airstream. And the Airstream Basecamp is no different with its shiny, smooth aluminum exterior.

The Basecamp takes advantage of flexible storage and floor planning. It gives you all the amenities in just 16 to 20 feet.  It sleeps up to four and includes a wet bath and a kitchen. The living space is convertible to form the bed when you’re ready to hit the hay.

If you love off-roading, the Basecamp has options for you. You can upgrade to the X package to take on any road and drive through even the worst of weather.
