Triple-threat Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka are celebrating their four-year wedding anniversary today.

The couple married on 6 September 2014 in Italy. Pamela Fryman, director of How I Met Your Mother, performed the ceremony, Elton John performed at the reception. John and Harris’ families recently enjoyed a joint vacation in St Tropez in France.

‘How time flies – especially when you have someone special to share it with,’ Harris wrote on Instagram.

‘After 14 years, two children, and thousands of adventures together, I’ve never been happier. Happy anniversary, David. Thank you for saying “I do”.’

The photo he shared is an intimate and beautiful portrait during the ceremony.

Harris’ relationship with Burtka began in 2004.

They originally became engaged in 2006, but they kept it secret until same-sex marriage became legal in New York in 2011.

Their two children, twins Gideon and Harper via surrogate mother, were born in 2010.

Over the holiday weekend, both Harris and Burtka were in attendance at the revival of the Wigstock festival. Harris also reprised his role as Hedwig from the Broadway musical for guests.

Last month, the couple opened up in a feature in Hamptons Magazine. It included an intimate look at their home and life together.
