Netflix has answered our prayers and confirmed a second season of Queer Eye.

Netflix confirmed the rebooted Queer Eye will come back bigger and better next year.

According to a report in Vulture, Queer Eye was unofficially ordered for a second season, just three weeks after it premiered.

Netflix’s unscripted content chief Bela Bajaria, said that the social media reactions to Queer Eye helped seal the deal for its renewal. But Bajaria stopped short of revealing exactly how many people watched the first season.

‘What’s been amazing is just the social chatter [around] the show,’ Bajaria told Vulture.

‘Here is the one thing I will tell you about the numbers: All of the cultural conversation and all the social media has increased every week. And that means people are feeling an emotional connection, and they want to share it… what’s been to interesting to see [with Queer Eye] is the word of mouth.

‘People are just so excited. They want other people to experience it. The word of mouth [is] actually driving the show week-to-week.’

Things keep getting better

Queer Eye stars five gay guys who make over another man’s life using their different areas of expertise. The Fab Five are; culture guy (Karamo Brown), grooming guy (Jonathan Van Ness), fashion guy (Tan France), food and wine guy (Antonio Porowski), and interior design guy (Bobby Berk).

Berk revealed the second season was shot straight after they finished shooting the first season.

‘One of the things I’m most excited about for the new season is the continuation of diversity, even more so than the last season,’ he told Variety.

‘Without giving anything away, with our heroes, you’re going to be seeing a lot more different people than you did the first time.’
