New team members

Written by gaytourism

It’s an exciting time at Equality Federation. I am honored to announce two new staff members have started this week to enhance and expand our advocacy work. Corinne Green has joined as our Policy & Legislative Strategist, and Mike Webb has joined as our Policy Engagement Strategist. Learn a little below about Corinne & Mike, as well as the way our growing advocacy department will operate.

  • Corinne Green (she/her, they/them) is a southern advocate who has fended off anti-LGBTQ attacks and pushed proactive policies in red states. She is also a former President of Louisiana Trans Advocates, an Equality Federation member. In her role as Policy & Legislative Strategist, she manages our Equality Tracker, coordinates support during legislative session, and works with members to identify and plan out proactive policy wins. Corinne is based in New Orleans, LA.
  • Mike Webb (they/them) is a Texan who has been involved in HIV advocacy and policy work at city, county, state, and federal levels of government. As the Policy Engagement Strategist, Mike works with our membership to leverage their advocacy capacity to influence state and federal policy. They also lead Equality Federation’s work around HIV advocacy and LGBTQ seniors. Mike is based in Houston, TX.
  • And don’t forget our other recent addition to the team, Vashti Selix (they/them/Vashti). As our Advocacy & Civic Engagement Strategist, Vashti leads our integrated voter engagement program to support members in building year-round power building plans.

Our advocacy team has now grown to four individuals and better reflects the work happening across the country. And as anti-transgender attacks continue to remain our opposition’s focus, we are proud to say that our entire advocacy team identifies as transgender or non-binary. At Equality Federation, transgender people are not only at the table but are making the decisions and setting the agenda.

We’re excited to introduce you to a team that will work closely with our state partners, national partners, and other stakeholders to build an active base of LGBTQ supporters in every state to advance pro-LGBTQ policies and defeat anti-LGBTQ policies from the ground up.
