‘Non binary issues are still largely misunderstood, even within the LGBTQIA community’
At first we thought that perhaps Piers Morgan was just ignorant on the issue.
But he just appears not to care at all what consequences his actions have.
As we’ve tried to tell him several times, including in an article Owl wrote on this, non binary people are not here to eradicate his precious identity as a man.
He actively ignores arguments that try to correct his misconceptions and continues to spread misinformation and clueless banter on the issue. He ignores the voices of non binary people as well as the voice of Stonewall, which is one of the largest LGBTQIA organizations in the country.
Non binary identities fall under the trans umbrella
Non binary issues are still largely misunderstood, even within the LGBTQIA community.
There are plenty of people within the community that don’t think bisexual or pansexual people should be recognized for who they are. Even more don’t want trans people to be part of the community.
Of course he will find those people by tweeting stuff like this. He will find people on twitter eager to agree with his banter.
But that doesn’t mean he’s right.
Saying that most of the community agrees with him, without having the faintest idea of what the community actually is, really speaks for itself.
Non binary identities fall under the trans umbrella. This umbrella encompasses those who do not identify with the sex and gender they were assigned at birth.
That inherently makes them a part of the LGBTQIA community.
His claims to support the LGBTQIA community, while continuously spreading harmful misinformation and misconceptions about a group within the community, is a blatant contradiction.
Let us be non binary without all this misguided hate
Non binary people aren’t here to erase men and women. We’re here to tell you that not everyone are men and women.
We want everyone to be able to be themselves and express their identities in whatever way they wish.
Piers Morgan is a man – amazing. Great for him. Go Piers.
Now let us be non binary without all this misguided hate and stigma.
You cannot cherry pick groups from within the community to support and then say you support the whole community to make yourself seem like a better person. It just makes you look even worse.
What does it change for Piers Morgan that people are non binary? Why does it upset him so much that a group in society wants social and legal recognition?
It’s almost like people complaining about equal marriage and how it ruins marriage for straight people that now everyone else can marry.
Non binary people are active participants within the community
Non binary identities aren’t up for debate. It’s already boring to see him go on and on about it, unwilling to learn or listen to reason.
It’s not about you and has absolutely nothing to do with you.
Honestly, get a hobby and stop picking on people who are just fighting for their right to exist. It’s not a good look for you, Piers.
Non binary people have always been around and exist in countries all around the world.
New Zealand, Australia, Malta and Nepal already legally recognize non binary people.
We are a part of the LGBTQIA community and are active participants within the community, both socially and politically.
This is our reality, and the reality of many people within the community. We’re not going away. It isn’t just a fad.
You’ve made your bed, Piers
We hope that in the next years to come when non binary people will have gained more social and legal recognition, Piers will look back and realize that he’s made a fool out of himself.
He’s being absolutely absurd about this and it appears to be some strange obsession of his.
You’ve made your bed, Piers. We hope you’ll be happy with it in the future.
This is a great opportunity to remind people of the hashtag #ThisIsWhatNonBinaryLooksLike, and we encourage all non binary people to share their selfies under that hashtag.
