The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested three Mandeville-area teenagers accused of stealing and setting fire to a resident’s LGBTQ flag.

“On May 26, a Mandeville-area woman called the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office to report her LGBTQ flag was stolen from outside her house and burned in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Soult Drive and Preval Drive,” said Lt. Suzanne Carboni.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office’s property crime division arrested two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old after obtaining video investigators said showed the three burning the flag and making derogatory remarks.

The trio were released to their parents/guardians on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

Charges include misdemeanor counts of theft, simple criminal damage, and hate crimes.
