hello mr., the independent magazine about men who date men, is closing after six years.
The publication, which has featured RPDR queen Milk among its coverboys, bows out after 10 issues.
Years & Years’ frontman Olly Alexander appears on the cover of the final instalment, out now.
Speaking to Gay Star News, editor Ryan Fitzgibbon said: ‘The support that’s flooded our inboxes since the news has given me all the validation that what we did mattered.
‘The impact hello mr. had on everyone who came across it will live on in them forever.’
Confirming the news on Instagram, a hello mr. spokesperson said: ‘We’ve seen the future and it’s queer as hell. Our 10th and final issue, featuring @ollyyears is here to serenade you one last time. Order your copy and read our farewell letter at hellomrmag.com.’
In the interview to accompany his photoshoot, Olly tells the publication: ‘I get to be this multi-gendered creature. I get to create this moment of fantasy on stage and I just want to explore than more and more.’
‘It’s time for me to say goodbye’
Commenting on the closure on his personal Instagram, Fitzgibbon wrote: ‘Well, what more can I say? After six dedicated years pushing our queer stories forward, it’s time for me to say goodbye to @hellomr.
‘When I came out a decade ago, I could have never imagined that my visibility, the thing I feared most, would become such a powerful form of activism. The content we produced, issue after issue, amounted to something truly magical.’
He furthermore added: ‘While this decision hasn’t been easy, I accomplished exactly what I set out to. Together, we changed the conversation. While the magazine will cease to exist, its impact forever remains. I can’t thank you enough for believing in me. I did it my way, and you sure as hell can too.’
