Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie invited singer Hayley Kiyoko to perform onstage in Canada with the band after production issues scuppered her support slot.
Kiyoko was due to open for the band at the Air Canada Centre, in Toronto on Sunday, but missed her scheduled performance due to ‘border/production delays’.
Taking to Instagram, Kiyoko wrote a heartfelt message of thanks to Urie.
‘[Brendon Urie] decided to bring me out for GIRLS/GIRLS/BOYS. I cannot tell you how incredible this man is,’ the star gushed.
‘Not only is his voice a gift but his KINDNESS and ability to make people feel warm and special is just beyond. Thank you Brendon for giving me something to aspire to and be. And supporting me as if we are family. I’ll never forget last night🌈.’
Kiyoko posted her message, to which she added a cute rainbow emoji, beneath footage of the duet.
The pair can both be seen draped in rainbow flags as the crowd hold aloft multi-coloured lights.
The song GIRLS/GIRLS/BOYS features the lyric: ‘Girls love girls and boys, and love is not a choice’.
Brendon Urie recently came out as pansexual
Urie, who is married to a woman, was recently commended by fans and social media for coming out as pansexual.
Speaking to Paper Magazine, Urie said: ‘I guess you could qualify me as pansexual because I really don’t care.
‘If a person is great, then a person is great. I just like good people, if your heart’s in the right place.
‘I’m definitely attracted to men. It’s just people that I am attracted to.’
Brendon Urie recently pledged $1 million (£753,466 €850,408) to support LGBTI rights group Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
Kiyoko is herself openly gay and has stated she is intent on normalizing lesbian relationships.
Speaking to Billboard, the singer said: ‘If you see two girls falling in love and normalizing that, then [people] can go, ‘I can fall in love, too, I can be that person, I can look like that, I can get a girl that looks like that.’ If they see that, then they can believe it. It’s just how we are.
Kiyoko is due to continue supporting Panic! At The Disco throughout the remainder of the North American leg of their Pray For The Wicked Tour.
