A few years ago, while reporting my book “Queer Love in Color,” I posted a photo online of an older gay couple that I’d met. The image went viral, and one recurring comment stuck out to me: young queer people who said that they’d never seen an older gay man before.
Queerness is often conflated with youth, but what does it mean for an entire population of people to not have any reflections of what life can be like as you age?
