The Hanoi International Queer Film Week (HIQFW) opened in Vietnam on Monday.

The event brings LGBTI stories from around the world, from both Vietnamese and international directors, to a Vietnamese audience.

It will show a total of 14 films, comprising of eight short films and six feature movies.

Some of the films showing are: Our Gay Wedding, Lost in Paradise 2, Saigon I Love You, and Tomboy.

“HIQFW 2018 promises to deliver a fascinating playground presenting various issues within the queer world to all cinephiles,” said the director of HIQFW, Nguyen Bao Chau.

The festival, Nguyen said, aims to raise public awareness about the diversity of sexuality in Vietnam, in the hopes of ending social discrimination of minority groups.
