Rufus Wainwright has discussed family life in a new interview.
Speaking about how he likes to have fun, he admits he and husband Jörn Weisbrodt have ‘a very successful marriage.’
The Art Teacher singer and the former Artistic Director of the Toronto’s Luminato Festival married in 2012.
Speaking about his sleep schedule, he says: ‘Every morning, I wake up, get my coffee and play the piano for an hour. I have a seven-year-old daughter, Viva, who spends a third of her time with me and my husband, Jörn Weisbrodt, and the rest with her mother, Lorca Cohen.’
He furthermore added: ‘My set getting-up time is 9.30am, but when I’m with Viva I get up at 7am. I’m rarely in bed before midnight.’
Viva’s mother, Lorca, is the daughter of the late iconic singer Leonard Cohen.
‘I like going to the opera and eating cake’
Rufus, who is currently touring the UK, also told The Guardian how he likes to have fun.
‘I like going to the opera and eating cake,’ he explained. ‘My family has a house my grandfather built, north of Montreal in the Laurentian mountains, that we’re renovating together. And let’s just say I have a very successful marriage.’
Rufus is known for songs such as Out of the Game, Going to a Town, and his beautiful cover of Cohen’s signature song, Hallelujah.
