RuPaul’s Drag Race has officially been renewed for an 11th season

The legacy of drag queen RuPaul continues as her reality TV show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, isrenewed for an 11th season.

RuPaul confirmed that behind the scenes show, Untucked, which accompanies each week’s episode will also return next year.

‘After ten sickening seasons, the Drag Race phenomenon is just getting started,’ said RuPaul in a statement.

‘I want to thank VH1 for providing this amazing platform for a whole new generation of super talented drag queens.’

The reality show features a group of drag queens battling it out to become ‘America’s Next Drag Superstar’. It will return to cable channel VH1 in the United States.

Drag Race has earned RuPaul two Emmy Awards for best Reality Host and helped get the drag legend a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The show has also won two Primetime Emmys for costume and picture editing.

More and more people are tuning in

VH1 affirmed its support for Drag Race.

‘We are thrilled that Drag Race will continue to lead the conversation of inclusion and diversity as the show embarks on its eleventh season,’ said Pamela Post, SVP Original Programming & Development at VH1.

‘It’s unprecedented for a show to continue to grow on the scale that Drag Race has, and it’s just the beginning.’

Drag Race continues to grow on its popularity and has broken viewing records in the past few seasons. The first episode of season nine attracted one million viewers and starred Lady Gaga as a guest judge.

Currently, season ten is attracting an average of  1.2 million total viewers every episode, in the US alone.
