Ryan Reynolds has expressed a desire to see more LGBT characters in the Deadpool movies.

The Hollywood actor made his comments at a panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018. He was there to speak alongside the cast of Deadpool 2, released in May this year.

A bisexual fan posed a question to Reynolds regarding future whether future Deadpool movies will include more gay or bisexual characters.

Reynolds responded: ‘I certainly think that this universe needs to represent and reflect the world in very real ways.

‘The great thing about Deadpool is that we’re allowed to do things that other superhero movies don’t necessarily do.’

He went on to add that he would perhaps like to see his character Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) explore his own sexuality.

‘It’s something that I’d love to see more of, certainly through Wade, certainly through this universe.’

Deadpool ‘willing to do anything with a pulse’

Deadpool director Tim Miller stated in 2015 that the character is pansexual.

Fabian Nicieza, co-creator of the Deadpool comics, said on Twitter at the time that: ‘Deadpool is whatever sexual inclination his brain tells him he is in THAT moment. And then the moment passes’.

Nicieza also went on to stay: ‘He is NO sex and ALL sexes’.

Deadpool comics writer Gerry Duggan said on Twitter in 2013: ‘I consider DP to be ready & willing to do anything with a pulse’.

Deadpool 2 featured a lesbian relationship between X-Men mutants Teenage Negasonic Warhead and Yukio.

Briana Hildebrand, who plays Warhead, said that she wanted the movie to depict a same-sex relationship ‘the way it is and not be a big deal’.

So far, the movies have only shown one female love interest for Deadpool – Vanessa Carlysle, played by Morena Baccarin.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed in May that there will be a Deadpool 3, however no release date has been set.
