A same-sex couple who met on popular UK TV show First Dates have announced their engagement!

Shaun and Greig met earlier this year on what was Greig’s second date for the show.

Greig’s date with pub land lord Scot ended with Scot telling him that he did not find him attractive and asked if they could cancel the date.

While Scot stayed to have his main course alone, Greig left.

First Dates brought Greig back on the show however to give him a second chance.

This was when he met Shaun.

Second time truly is a charm as Greig and Shaun hit it off.

Shaun told Greig the date couldn’t have gone any better for him and thanked Greig for the evening.

Now, the happy couple are engaged!

Shaun took to Twitter to announce the fantastic news.

He told Twitter:  ‘Last week, I asked Mr. Greig Fairweather to marry me. And he said yes! Beyond thrilled, happy and excited. Haven’t stopped smiling!’

Shaun also tweeted the First Dates restaurant’s Maître d’ Fred Sirieix as well as two of the waiting staff to inform them of the news.

The couple have been together just under a year.

Channel 4 airs the dating show.
