The festival has become a safe space for many attendees returning year after year.

SAN DIEGO — Balboa Park was full of color following the Pride Parade at the San Diego Pride Festival where attendees got the chance to listen to more than two dozen performers on its four stages.

“It’s the music, it’s the feeling, it’s the vibes and the way how we dress,” Ivvan Reyna.

Ivvan Reyna at the Mundo Latino Stage where there were about nine performers throughout the day. Reyna has been an attendee of the San Diego Pride Festival since the age of 13.

Ivvan tells CBS 8 just how important it is to have a space like this.

“I mean I feel like the majority of us here in San Diego are Latinx queer so its like important to have this not just for us …but for others who are still interested in sharing la Cultura, music and just las vibras,” Reyna said.

Rainbow colors decorated throughout the festival, a reminder for some people about the welcoming environment it provides for everyone.

“If I had known there was a community that was like this now… I would’ve come out a lot sooner and just met people that were like me,” San Diego Pride Festival Attendee Chloee Escobedo said.

The Pride Festival has become a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, a place of love and unity among people in attendance.

“We can just be here and have a good time and just be ourselves,” San Diego Pride Festival Attendee Irwin Ramirez said.
