Saudi Arabia has said that the travel ban on its citizens will continue till May 17, instead of March 31 as announced earlier.
Ministry of Interior said in a tweet that it has postponed the lifting of the travel suspension for citizens and the opening of the land, sea and air ports completely to May 17.
The suspension and border curbs were introduced to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
An Interior ministry spokesperson was quoted as saying that the decision was taken “given the importance of reaching high levels of community immunity in the Kingdom before travel is permitted, in light of a possible second wave of the pandemic in many countries.”
Meanwhile, the Saudi health ministry has said that deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines are being delayed.
