Show your #TrueColors at this year’s Edinburgh Pride

Written by gaytourism

Edinburgh Pride floats and marchers will walk the streets this Saturday (16 June). This year’s theme #TrueColors will urge everyone to show their true self and take part in the annual Pride Scotia March, which has attracted 10,000 people over the past years.

‘We at Pride Edinburgh are thrilled to welcome Pride-goers to an ever-growing celebration of love in Scotland’s capital,’ said Jamie Love, director of marketing and entertainment.

The assembly point will be Scottish Parliament at 11:30am. Pride Scotia will then halt outside the City Chambers for speeches from invite guests.

Pride celebrations will continue at the University of Edinburgh’s Student Association (EUSA) buildings. Potterrow and Teviot buildings will host a health and wellbeing fair, family entertainment and ceilidh dancing.

Furthermore, Potterow dome will provide space for younger LGBTI people with its own Youth Space and Trans space.

For those who feel sporty, there will be a Pride fitness center and the annual Pride Run in The Meadows. Now in its second year, the event will see frontrunners taking on a 5k race, kicking off Edinburgh Pride on Saturday morning. The run starts at 9:30am, leaving plenty of time to put on one’s best pride outfit.

This year’s line up

‘This year’s line up is a true celebration of pride,’ said Love. ‘We have assembled the best of Pride Edinburgh as well as adding new acts to our Manchester Airport San Francisco Stage.’

The main stage in Bristo Square will welcome back all-female London band Stooshe, together with Caitlyn Vanbeck and Lloyd Daniels. They will be joined by Edinburgh Pride first-timers Kelli-Leigh and James Hughes.

Withdraw cash in style at the rainbow ATM’s

Royal Bank of Scotland ATM’s are showing their true colors, too. A few of the cash machines around town have undergone a Pride makeover to celebrate the LGBTI community.

If you need cash − and an easy Instagrammable spot − head to Princes Street and Nicolson Street for rainbow and pink furry ATM’s. Going up on today (15 June), ATM’s will celebrate equality for the whole weekend. Hurry up if you don’t want to miss them.
