Stephen Fry opens up about prostate cancer struggle
Comedian Stephen Fry has revealed he has been secretly battling prostate cancer .
The funnyman and QI presenter opened up about his battle with the illness in an emotional video diary, reported the BBC.
He said he was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas after visiting his doctor for a flu jab.

In the video, he reveals he had his prostate removed in a life-saving operation.
He was informed in January the cancer had not spread.
In a 12 minute video posted on his website on Friday, he revealed how he came to terms with the illness.
‘I’ve said the c word first off now. I had the MRI and didn’t think much more of it… something rather mischievous showed up.
‘They took a clip of living tissue from the prostate and again another wait, and I got the results the next day and yes indeed there is a cancer there,’ he added.
Stephen praised doctors for their speedy reaction
He then explains that due to the quick reaction of the doctors, he underwent life-saving surgery in February.
‘One option was radiotherapy but it’s a long process,’ he continued.
‘The other was to get rid of the prostate by sending little robots in through tiny holes in your tummy.
‘In the first week of January, I had the operation, it seemed to go well.
‘They took the prostate out, and 11 lymph nodes. It was an aggressive little bugger.
‘I have been keeping my head down’
‘If you’re wondering why I’ve been out of the public eye – I’m sure you haven’t – I have been keeping my head down because you want to get better without strangers – with the best of intentions – sending cards and flowers because you have to reply and I wasn’t really up to that.’
After his emotional reveal, Stephen then signed off in typically positive fashion.
‘Here’s hoping I’ve got another few years left on this planet because I enjoy life at the moment and that’s a marvelous thing to be able to say, and I’d rather it didn’t go away,’ he said.
