Thank you for making 2018 a record-breaker for Digital Pride

Digital Pride comes to an end today, after another record-breaking year as the only global LGBTI Pride.

We created Digital Pride so anyone around the world – including people who can’t usually access Pride – can take part.

All this week, you’ve been joining us as we celebrate with music, films, art, dancing and culture.

Meanwhile, our #MillionsOfUs message – that all LGBTI people around the world deserve freedom, equality and protection – has reached millions of people.

We still haven’t counted the final figures. But we can announce we’ve already gone way beyond the 55million people we reached in 2017.

Digital Pride 2018 has been online, in Times Square and through your letterbox

This year, Digital Pride hasn’t just been on the internet.

We’ve taken our #MillionsOfUs message for equality and freedom to the huge screens in Times Square, New York and Canary Wharf, London, thanks to our friends at Thomson Reuters.

And you helped us share it on Twitter and Facebook to over 33million people via our social media Thunderclap.

Meanwhile, Digital Pride has been rubber-stamped onto millions of envelopes and postcards put through the UK postal system, thanks to our sponsors at Royal Mail.

There’s been a full schedule of events – too many to list here. We did a naked photo shoot with LGBTI people of all body shapes and ages, to highlight body confidence issues. We created our first Digital Pride anthem, to spread a message of love and acceptance. And we told stories from queer activists who are fighting to repeal the laws banning gay sex.

If you haven’t seen it all, there’s a lot you can catch up on via our Digital Pride homepage.

Thank you for performing, speaking, watching and taking your clothes off

But most importantly, it’s all been made possible by your support.

So my partner Scott Nunn and I, who co-founded Gay Star News and Digital Pride, would like to thank you.

Thank you for watching, for reading and for sharing. Particular thanks to those of you who lent their social media reach to our Thunderclap.

Thank you to those artists, activists, performers, and normal members of the public who starred in Digital Pride this year. Some of you danced, others painted, and some took all their clothes off. All of you were amazing.

And, of course, a massive thank you to our sponsors. Their support allowed us to provide a whole week of amazing events to the global LGBTI public for free. They are Barclays, npower, Royal Bank of Scotland, Heathrow, Celebrity Cruises, Skittles, Age UK, Hoseasons, Digitas, Cottages.com, Deloitte, Royal Mail, Pink Lady and Inclusive Retreats.

Digital Pride will return in 2019

Digital Pride will be returning around the same time next year. We’ll be announcing the dates for 2019 soon.

Meanwhile, if you sign up to receive our regular emails, we promise we’ll keep you posted on all the global LGBTI news and the latest from Digital Pride:

Thank you again for making 2018 an amazing success. See you next year!
