The former education secretary has described Prime Minister Theresa May’s proposals a ‘fudge’.
Writing in The Times, she called the ideas the ‘worst of both worlds’.

The Conservative politician, who came out in 2016, has said it is time to give the decision back to the British public.
She said there are three options: the PM’s deal, staying in the EU or a clean break from Europe with no deal.
Greening resigned after the cabinet reshuffle in January. She said the referendum should offer a first and second preference vote so a consensus can be reached.
She said: ‘Whatever the proposal on the table, there will be MPs who vote it down. But Britain needs to find a route forward.’
Greening, who supported Remain, is the highest profile ex-Cabinet minister to call for a second public vote on Brexit.
‘We’ll be dragging Remain voters out of the EU for a deal that means still complying with many EU rules, but now with no say on shaping them,’ she said.
Britain voted on Brexit on 26 June 2016. 51.9% voted leave, while 48.1 person voted to remain.
In March, lawyers handed a 50-page dossier to the UK’s election watchdog. They claimed it indicated the Vote Leave campaign acted illegally during the referendum.

Michael Cashman a gay Labour peer, is also a leading voice against Brexit.
‘The government’s plan for Brexit puts our rights as a community at risk and it threatens to divide us, making it harder for our voices to be heard,’ he wrote in a recent opinion piece for GSN.
‘The shoddy deal they’re cobbling together isn’t what people voted for and it’s not what’s best for our country or our community.
‘Members of our community– whether you backed leave or remain two years ago – did not vote for a bad Brexit that will undermine our human rights.
‘Britain cannot afford a bad Brexit that undermines our hard-won rights.’
