Cher sings Fernando in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

The much-anticipated sequel to 2008’s Mamma Mia! is hitting theaters in the United States and United Kingdom on 20 July.

On top of the original cast (Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, etc.), pop idol Cher joins the film as Donna’s mom, Ruby.

Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again!

The film picks up five years after where the original story left off. Sophie (Seyfried) is pregnant with her partner’s child and is running her mother’s (Donna, played by Streep) villa. During a turbulent time in Sophie’s relationship with her partner, Sky, she discovers more about her mom’s past. A surprise comes for Sophie in the form of her grandmother, Ruby, who she has never met.

Thanks to Buzzfeed, we can now have a first look at Cher’s role of Ruby. In this 45 second clip, Ruby belts out the song Fernando. Fernando is ABBA’s first non-album single. It was originally released in March of 1976.
