On Friday (26 January), Ellen DeGeneres celebrated her 60th birthday — a fact which many could not believe.
Today the TV host is celebrating her big day on The Ellen Show. She’s already celebrated with famous friends and earlier, she had another surprise guest.
Her wife, Portia de Rossi, swung by to surprise DeGeneres with a birthday present. The room became emotional as de Rossi shared a video revealing the gift.
‘This gift had to be really special,’ de Rossi says. ‘It had to represent who you are and what you really care about.’
De Rossi then shares the video, which explains DeGeneres’ love for wildlife and Dian Fossey, an American primatologist. Fossey studied and protected mountain gorillas.
Then she reveals DeGeneres’ birthday present: The Ellen DeGeneres Center for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
Almost immediately DeGeneres chokes up and smiles.
‘Now, you will join Dian as a protector and champion of these mountain gorillas.’
However, that wasn’t all DeGeneres’ better half had up her sleeve.
She also created the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
Not the only birthday
DeGeneres wasn’t the only one celebrating, though. Yesterday (31 January) was de Rossi’s birthday!
