Nevertheless, it’s official: Fifth Harmony are no more. Or at least, they’re now on an ‘indefinite hiatus’ to pursue solo projects.
The news follows the departure of one the group’s founding members Camila Cabello in December 2016; Camila, of course, went on to greater success than the group ever did, scoring a number one single with Havana and a number one self-titled album last month.
What the other four girls – Dinah Hane, Ally Brooke, Normani and Lauren Jauregui – will do next remains to be seen. But as one fan put it, we’re totally ready for Lauren’s ‘bisexual bangers’…

She’s frank about her bisexuality
Lauren came out as bisexual in November 2016 in an open letter to Donald Trump supporters. In the brave note, she said: ‘I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it. I am proud to be part of a community that only projects love and education and the support of one another.’
She furthermore added: ‘I am proud to be the granddaughter and daughter of immigrants who were brave enough to leave their homes and come to a whole new world with a different language and culture and immerse themselves fearlessly to start a better life for themselves and their families.’

She did an amazing duet with Halsey on Strangers
Lauren, of course, is not the only openly bisexual woman making waves in the music world in the late 00s. There’s Kehlani, who Lauren is friends with, plus former X Factor judge Demi Lovato who Lauren met when she appeared on the 2012 series.
Another female pop star fiercely open about her bisexuality is Bad At Love singer Halsey, who last year scored a number one album on the Billboard charts with Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. Forget the singles: the best song on it is this album track with Lauren.

On it, the girls sing broodingly about the demise of a romantic relationship.
They deliver the killer chorus together in a deeper, more gravelly harmony than you’ll find on any 5H track: ‘Said that we’re not lovers, we’re just strangers, with the same damn hunger, to be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all.’

She is a women’s and human rights activist
In January 2017, Lauren took part in the iconic Women’s March, which she called ‘the most incredible day of my life.’
She shared the above photo with the caption: ‘For so long I felt so alone and hopeless in my belief in humanity and love and this day proved to me just how wrong I was in thinking I was alone.
‘I witnessed so many powerful women, men, and queer folk alike of all different genders, races, religions, classes, sexualities, you name it..come together for one common goal, equality and justice and peace. It left a fire in my soul that can never be extinguished and a reminder in my heart that my voice can NEVER be silenced.’

She knows her LGBTI historical icons
On August 27 2017, Lauren paid tribute to the late queer icon Masha P Johnson. Activist and drag queen Marsha was of course the subject of last year’s hard-hitting Netflix documentary.
‘Happy Birthday to this beautiful soul,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you for everything you did for me and for showing the world that gender and sexuality should never define dignity.’
