Eurovision is getting the big screen treatment with an original Netflix movie. Will Ferrell is set to star in the flick, simply titled Eurovision.

Ferrell is also co-writing the film with Saturday Night Live alum Andrew Steele. The pair recently took on another big European event with Hulu’s The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish!.

Ferrell and producing partner Adam McKay are executive producing the movie with their Gary Sanchez Productions banner.

There is no synopsis for the film yet but Eurovision fans and the LGBTI community know what this group is getting into.

The Eurovision Song Contest is an international song competition. Participating countries submit and perform original songs, then vote for other countries to determine the winner.

The competition was created in post-World War II Europe.

Israel won this year’s competiton.

Ferrell last appeared in The Royal Wedding Live with Molly Shannon where they played beloved TV presenters covering Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

He’ll next appear in a comedic take on Sherlock Holmes in Holmes and Watson with John C. Reilly, Ralph Fiennes, Hugh Laurie, and Rebecca Hall.

What’s the fan reaction?

Naturally, fans are split on the idea of a movie.

Some are wondering why it’s coming from the US with American stars.

There’s no date for when pre-production will start or a potential release.
