STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The recent decision to finally allow LGBTQ+ groups to participate in the Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the first time in the borough’s history has received high praise from one of the world’s foremost advocacy groups.

On Tuesday, the new leadership of the Richmond County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee gathered alongside the The Pride Center of Staten Island and local officials to celebrate the momentous decision to allow LGBTQ+ groups to march under their banners in the borough’s annual celebration of Irish heritage, from which they had been barred for decades, as first reported by the Advance/SILive.com.
