Warner Bros. unveiled the first trailer for the next Harry Potter film. Titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the movie is a sequel to the 2016 prequel.

The movie includes the same four protagonist as the first film. There’s Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Dan Fogler as muggle Jacob Kowalski.

Newcomers include Zoe Kravitz as a member of the infamous Lestrange family and, of course, Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore.

Law looks fantastic. Harry Potter fans all over are excited to see such an iconic character in a new light.

Unfortunately, the film won’t explore Dumbledore’s sexuality to the extent many hoped for — although there are three movies left in the franchise.

A conflicted group of fans

Take one look at Twitter and you’ll immediately see a breadth of reactions to the trailer.

The excitement is palpable — especially with that shot of Hogwarts. Other tweets show eagerness for the likes of Redmayne and Law teaming up, as well as Johnny Depp as the titular Gellert Grindelwald.

However, Depp is also a source of contention for fans, because of his alleged abuse of ex-wife Amber Heard and playing a possible queer character.

For some, Depp’s casting dampens their excitement.

Especially when they had Colin Farrell in the first film.

The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters in the US and UK on 16 November.
