Looking to catch a bit of sun over the winter months?
Fancy seeing some Latin American culture?
Have a wedding coming up…?
Here’s a perfect choice for a getaway!
First LGBTI marriage expo
Costa Rica will be hosting its first LGBTI wedding exhibition in February 2019.
This comes fresh off the back of a landmark ruling which will make same-sex marriages legal by 2020.
The LGBTI marriage expo will take place at the Pedregal Events Center in Pin San Antonio de Belen. It’s just a short distance from the city center of the capital, San Jose.
Though the exact dates have not yet been confirmed, the expo is due to last for three days, The Costa Rica Star reports.
The organizers have arranged over one hundred stands for companies to offer different services, including wedding planning, decorations, food, jewelry, clothing, photography and choice of venues.
New horizons for the Costa Rica LGBTI community
It will be a great opportunity to visit the country at an exciting time.
Last month, Costa Rica’s Constitutional Court ruled that the country’s ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.
The ruling gave Costa Rica’s Congress 18 months to change the current law to allow equal marital rights to same-sex couples, which is due to come into effect in 2020.
Countless members of the Latin American country’s LGBTI community have been waiting years for this.
A visit during the lead up to 2020 would mean being in Costa Rica at a time when something truly special is happening.
