Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are celebrating their ten year wedding anniversary today (16 August).
It’s been ten years since they tied the knot in front of just 19 friends and family members at their Los Angeles home.
Over that time, the pair have been through ups and downs and handled untrue baby rumors like pros.
They even shot down divorce rumors in the best possible way (‘we only argue about who loves who more’).
But they’ve remained strong since they first met backstage at the VH1 Big in ‘04 awards ceremony in December 2004.
‘Ellen took my breath away,’ de Rossi told The Advocate. ‘That had never happened to me in my life, where I saw somebody and experienced all of those things you hear about in songs and read about in poetry. My knees were weak.’
Ellen also described feeling ‘love at first sight’ after meeting Portia.
She told Oprah in the couple’s first interview since getting married: ‘I’m going to be with her till the day I die and I know that.’
In fact, Ellen’s also previously said: ‘I love her so much, it kills me.’
A history of sweet confessions of love
Two years ago, Ellen posted to Instagram about her loving wife. She wrote in a simple caption: ‘Best thing I ever did.’
She also did something similar for their fourth wedding anniversary.
For their sixth wedding anniversary, Portia hired an airplane and wrote ‘Six’ in the sky.
For Ellen’s birthday this year, Portia got her a Gorilla Fund.
Appearing on Ellen’s daytime show, Portia revealed she established The Ellen DeGeneres Center for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in her wife’s honor.

But perhaps one of the funniest presents the couple has gotten is Ellen’s recreation of Portia’s life to celebrate her birthday.
With a little bit of help from guest Sean Hayes and a series of wigs, Ellen re-enacted Portia’s life story on her daytime talk show – from her birth in Australia to the couple’s 2008 wedding.
Ellen portrayed Portia throughout her life including her modeling days in London to her days of television stardom in the US.
When it came time to dramatize her meeting Portia, Ellen remained in character as her wife and Hayes appeared in a blond pixie wig – as Ellen.

As for how they’ll be celebrating this year, we’ll see.
But happy ten year wedding anniversary to Portia and Ellen!
