A man and his girlfriend have been found guilty of raping his 11-year-old son.

Prosecutors say Sean Cole, 29, encouraged Khadeijah Moore, 20, to assault the boy because he feared his son was gay, in Alabama, US.

The unnamed boy went to stay with father Cole for  Thanksgiving weekend in Huntsville in 2016.

But the court heard on Tuesday (27 March) how Cole found his son in a ‘compromising position’ with another boy.

Alabama man thought he could ‘straighten him out’

As a punishment, he ordered Moore to perform sexual acts on the minor.

The child was then forced to reciprocate the sexual acts on Moore.

Assistant District Attorney Tim Douthit said: ‘It was solely that [Cole] was worried that his son was gay or might become gay.

‘There was no evidence he had a sexual attraction to his son or children.

‘He just though he could, for lack of better words, “straighten him out.”‘

After the boy related the details of the incident to his mother, she drove directly from Georgia to speak with police in Huntsville.

Couple face life imprisonment

Madison County jury convicted Cole and Moore of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12.

Additionally Moore is now classed a fugitive for failing to appear at the trial after making bail.

Moore’s defense attorney, Reta McKannan, told AL.com that she understood that the jurors did what they had to do.

‘My client did everything at Sean Cole’s direction. That doesn’t make it OK. That doesn’t make it right.’

Both Moore and Cole face life imprisonment at their sentencing hearing on 24 May.
