Boyfriend of Glee star Kevin McHale surprises him with sweetest birthday present

Glee star Kevin McHale just posted the sweetest photo, featuring the adorable present his boyfriend made him for his birthday.

McHale publicly came out as gay in March this year and revealed he’s dating actor Austin McKenzie a month later.

And it seems like things are going really well for the pair.

McHale posted a photo of a three-tier cake to his Instagram. In the caption, he wrote: ‘So, for my bday, my mans made me a homemade “Kevin’s Favorite Things” cake.’

The top tier was Oreo, the middle tier was banana cream pie cake and the bottom tier was Southern Comfort, corn bread with BBQ chicken in between, ‘frosting’ mashed potatoes dyed green and a country gravy drizzle.

Very… interesting flavor combinations!

McHale ended the caption: ‘He hated it. I fucking loved it. You’re a mad genius Austin McKenzie.’

Kevin McHale: ‘People knew’ I was gay

In a Facebook live chat, McHale revealed he thought he was never really in the closet about his sexuality.

He said: ‘If somebody was a big fan and following everything I was doing [on social media], like the people I interact with on Twitter on a daily basis, I think there was zero surprise. People knew.’

McHale said he’s always wanted to protect the guys he was with when deciding whether to make a big public statement about his sexuality.

He continued: ‘I was very conscious of, this wasn’t just my life they’ll be talking about if I do mention something.

‘It’s also the person I’m with. And if they’re not necessarily at the same place as I am, it’s not really fair to them,’ he said.

McHale previously expressed support for same-sex marriage in the States and appeared in Dustin Lance Black’s miniseries When We Rise.
