For the first time in 13 years pop diva and gay icon, Cher, will tour Australia.

Cher announced the tour early on Tuesday morning (Australian time) and needless to say people are freaking out.

The 71-year-old’s national tour comes off the back of her headlining performance at this year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras party.

The ‘Here We Go Again’ tour will head Down Under in September and October. Cher will perform in arenas in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle and Adelaide.

Cher headlined the Mardi Gras party for its 40th anniversary, with her stunning performance and multiple costume changes leaving people wanting more.

Her time in Australia was not without controversy.

The singer with six decades of experience in entertainment was heavily criticized for posing in a selfie with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Fans were not happy with the PM who put Australia’s LGBTI community through a gruelling national survey on marriage equality. The postal survey had a negative affect on the mental health of LGBTI Australians and violence against LGBTI people jumped by 50%.

Cher originally stood by her decision to pose with the PM, but later apologized.

‘Am so sorry. Guess that’s why I have FEW Friends Who Are Politicians. He Seemed Very Open & excited about MARDI GRAS,AND LGBT COMMUNITY,’ she wrote on Twitter.

The big-budget tour will come only a few months after the release of Mama Mia 2 in July. In the all-Abba movie musical, Cher plays Meryl Streep’s mother.

Such good news

Australian waking up to the news of Cher touring for the first time in more than ten years were very excited and took to Twitter to express their delight.
