Comedian Cameron Esposito announces separation from spouse Rhea Butcher

Stand-up comedians Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher have announced their separation ‘for a time’ on social media.

Both figures posted to Instagram and Twitter about the news, asking for privacy and indicating an amicable split.

The full statement reads:

Rhea & i are separating to live individual lives for a time. We care very much about each other & that’s why we’re doing this. We’re gonna talk to our friends about it & be pretty private in public. Thanks for your understanding and kindness.

Details about the split are unclear.

However, they have numerous projects together that are currently in development. They have a stand-up show/podcast together titled Put Your Hands Together and a loosely autobiographical TV series titled Take My Wife.

Most recently, Esposito released her stand-up special Rape Jokes in June.

Butcher, who is non-binary, started their comedy career at The Second City in Chicago. They made their late-night debut on Conan in 2016. Esposito also began in Chicago and appeared at numerous venues. She made her late-night debut in 2013 on The Late, Late Show with Cragi Ferguson.

The couple married in 2015 onstage at The Hideout in Chicago.
