Demi & GLAAD
GLAAD is an organization that amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively.
Through ensuring the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.
Lovato has long supported the LGBTI community and 2016 GLAAD honored her for her worked.
Singer Nick Jonas presented her with the Vanguard Award at the 2016 award ceremony.
It’s presented to a member of the entertainment industry who has done a lot of work for the LGBTI community. Other notable winners include; Cher, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears
‘I want to be a voice to my generation because I knew if I ever made it as a singer, I’d want to use my voice for so much more than singing. I’m so proud to be a part of a generation that’s more accepting,’ Lovato said in her speech.
‘I always want people to know you should always love yourself for who you are – have no fear. You can do it.’
