With the theme of “100 Reasons to Celebrate” in honor of the destination’s Centennial, Vallarta Pride will take place in Puerto Vallarta from May 20 to 27th. The festival will celebrate the vibrant Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, Transgender, Intersexual and Queer (LGBTTIQ) community through a series of cultural activities, concerts, parties and parades.
Last year, Vallarta Pride received more than 17 thousand visitors, which meant an increase of considerable tourist influx in Puerto Vallarta during the season.
One of the first celebrities to confirm their participation in Vallarta Pride 2018, is the famous Mexican actress and singer, Lorena Herrera, this year’s Grand Marshal, a place of honor within the festival, and who will also be the star of the free concert offered by Vallarta Pride on Friday, May 25th at Teatro Vallarta, starting at 9:30 p.m. After the concert, special guests and other lucky guests will be able to accompany Lorena Herrera in a VIP Cocktail to be held at Mangos Beach Club.
Lorena Herrera began her career as a model participating in beauty contests such as “The Look of the Year”, “Miss Bikini International” and “Miss Univision”. She has also participated in a total of 56 films, including ‘Cocaína’, ‘El Arrecife de los Alacranes’, ‘La Fichera más Rápida del Oeste’, and ‘Traición’; and telenovelas such as ‘Muchachitas’, ‘Dos mujeres, un camino’’ ‘El premio mayor’, ‘María Isabel’ and ‘Amy, La niña de la mochila azulVallarta Pride is an event held annually in May that has been created to celebrate the diverse and vibrant LGBTQI community that lives and visits Puerto Vallarta and that over the years has influenced and integrated its culture, heritage and history.
In 1996 Lorena debuted as a singer with her self-titled album of which the single “Soy” was highlighted. In 2015, she independently published the single “Masoquista,” in which she dabbled in dance-electronic music. That same year with Flash, Lorena consecrated her status as one of the Mexican artists with the best visual productions. With this song, Herrera established herself as an icon for the LGBT community and began a series of presentations in the most important gay clubs in Mexico.
In 2016 she published the video for “Plastik”, the third single released from her new musical stage. That same year, the video “Karma” made its debut, where Lorena left aside the erotic style of his previous clips to focus on other audiovisual elements such as costumes, stages and camera movements. All the money raised through digital platforms with this song was donated to children living in extreme poverty in Mexico.
