American Idol contestants are a resilient bunch.
The judges rejected former hopeful Adam Sanders -now 24 – during season 12 of the US singing competition in 2013.
But rather than take the criticisms to heart, Adam went away and practiced a new approach.
And on Sunday, Sanders gloriously returned to the show during Season 16 as queen alter-ego, Ada Vox.
All hail the new queen of American Idol
As Billboard reports, the show saw the hopeful return with a new catwalk, new singing voice and plenty of new sass for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and
The singer told the judges how he was shamed for his size and sexuality after being eliminated from the top 50 during Hollywood Week.
‘It killed me inside. It killed me almost as much as the people who were telling me that I should kill myself,’ Adam emotionally told the judges.

Vox then slayed the judges with an impressive rendition of the House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals.
Looking gobsmacked, Judge Richie told Ada: ‘We’ve had a lot of artists come on here, talented, but a bit confused.
‘What you are giving us is a clear understanding of who you are, coming in with an amazing amount of talent.’
Last year, one-time American Idol finalist La’Porsha~Renae claimed on Twitter that she was not gay anymore.
‘I chose to be heterosexual after being homosexual for 2 years. I chose a belief system that felt TRUE to my spirit,’ she tweeted.
Renae had angered fans after her time on the show ended when she said she ‘doesn’t agree’ with the LGBTI ‘lifestyle.’
She later apologized and said she has ‘a lot of friends and a lot of people that I love dearly who are gay and homosexual and they’re such sweet, nice people.’
