Gay dating app Chappy is running a survey on its platform that’s left some users feeling it’s got a bit of an issue with the over 50s.
The survey was launched to gather information about what users think of the app, but appeared to exclude members who were over the age of 50.
One of the first questions users were asked was their age. But when they put in a value greater than 50, the screen flashes a red message telling them to: ‘Please enter a number between 18 and 50’.

One user who contacted Gay Star News said: ‘Have you tried doing the Chappy survey? It’s ageist! It won’t let the over 50s take part.’
Reality star set up Chappy to take on hook-up culture
Chappy was set up by Ollie Locke, former star of UK reality series, Made In Chelsea. Its mission is to offer gay men an alternative to the instant hook-up culture of other apps.

When contacted about the unusual age restriction, Chappy’s management said the limit was an administrative error that it immediately corrected.
‘Chappy is a dating app that welcomes all users over 18,’ Sam Dumas, Chappy’s head of brand told Gay Star News. ‘We take full responsibility for this admin error and the survey has now been amended accordingly.’
The survey was being managed by Barcelona based online software services firm, Typeform.
Chappy works by inviting users to use a Tinder style swipe left or right on user profiles to find ‘Mr Right’ or even just ‘Mr Right Now’, regardless of their age.
