A week after Wigstock’s return, the first night of Bushwig 2018 took place. The award-winning two-day queer music festival is now in its sixth year. Basically it’s the Coachella of drag.

Bushwig took place at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York. Not only did it feature local talent, but also Drag Race favorites including Alaska, Pearl, Sasha Velour, and Aja.

‘Bushwig is extremely important because there is a stage for any performer,’ Aja told Billboard. ‘It’s more than just a drag festival — it’s a celebration of breaking all the boundaries and constructs society has placed on us. Everyone is welcome and no one is judged.’

‘Bushwig celebrates all forms of drag by all kinds of people,’ Sasha Velour concurred.

‘It now has international proportions, but still carries that signature neighborhood attitude: a love of invention, an empowering message, and a deeply unpredictable environment! Inspiration and trauma guaranteed!’
