Steve Grand has revealed how he got to meet veteran performers Adam Lambert and Elton John.
The Walking singer says he met Elton – who is also openly gay, and famous for being supportive of younger artists – at one of the icon’s gigs.
‘Elton was so great,’ Steve said in an interview with GSN. ‘He’s someone I grew up listening to. It was after All-American Boy, so he was aware [of who I was].’
‘I remember I met him before one of his concerts backstage. He said: “Hello Steven. We’ve been watching you…” It was the coolest thing.’

Adam made headlines in 2013 when the self-funded video for his song All-American Boy went viral.

‘ I was at Aspen Gay Ski Week…’
Meanwhile, Steve met Two Fux singer Adam at a gay winter sports party in Aspen, Colorado.
‘It’s funny, I was at Aspen Gay Ski Week. I performed there a couple of years ago. After my show I went in the hot tub just to relax. I was walking back into the hotel and he was there. I was like “Oh! Hey! What’s going on?” It was random, but he was very cool and gracious. I don’t think he was performing, I think he was just there for fun!’
‘I especially love the stuff Troye Sivan is doing right now’
Speaking about the upcoming generation of openly LGBTI stars such as Sam Smith, Troye Sivan and Hayley Kiyoko, Steve said: ‘I’m definitely a fan of all those guys, I just haven’t met them.
‘I would love to, if that opportunity arises, I hope to. I really especially love the stuff Troye Sivan is doing right now. I know people who wrote on his first record, guys i went to college with.’
