Up and coming actor Taylor Frey will play Xavier Dolan’s same-sex partner in the sequel to It.

It: Chapter Two will be released in 2019, and will also star Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, it’s been revealed.

Taylor Frey [below, right] has previously appeared as Topher in the 2014 romantic teen comedy G.B. F, about a gay guy whose popularity at school skyrockets after he comes out as gay.

Taylor – who has also appeared in the TV shows The Carrie Diaries and Gossip Girl – is married to fellow actor Kyle Dean Massey.

Kyle plays openly gay singer-songwriter Kevin Bicks on Nashville.

‘Can’t wait to jump into Derry with these incredible actors’

Reacting to the news about his casting in It: Chapter Two, Taylor said on Instagram: ‘Can’t wait to jump into Derry with these incredible actors’.

The first instalment of the horror film saga – an adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel – made over $700m worldwide. This makes it the highest-grossing horror film of all time. Andy Muschietti will once again direct the follow up, with Alexander Skarsgard playing Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Frey will play Don Hagarty in the film, while Xavier [below] will play his partner, Adrian Mellon. In the book, the pair are attacked by homophobic teens in the town of Derry, before facing Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

‘It’s a personal choice based on what I wish to prioritize,’ he commented. ‘I find myself drawn to hateful debates I’d rather ignore than waste time on.’

He furthermore added: ‘I’ll see you on Instagram, where I focus on what matters: Harry Styles’ outfits on tour.’

Xavier will also appear in this year’s Boy, Erased alongside Troye Sivan and Nicole Kidman.
