Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness opted for a sheer full length gown for a high profile red carpet appearance last night.

The TV star donned the dress for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in LA.

Jonathan shared a picture of himself in the dress on the red carpet alongside the caption: ‘I got a date.’

The star, pictured alongside his suited up boyfriend Wilco Froneman, was of course inundated with praise for his amazing look.

Albeit not from everyone.

However, one negative commuter said: ‘The guy in the dress looks like the villain in despicable me 3.’

JVN thankfully clapped back at the comment, saying: ‘I look f***ing stunning and my name is Jonathan, snap chat filter using on your insta tiny circle private profile having self.’

‘”The guy in a dress” is insulting’

When the look was featured on the Comments By Celebs Instagram page, Jonathan furthermore added: ‘Also, I love all these transphobic comments in here.

‘”The guy in a dress” is insulting and anyone that doesn’t see the implications is blind. F***ing [rude] people. I’m too tired.’

‘Hot new couple alert!’

Meanwhile, Olympian Gus Kenworthy was among the positive commenters, writing: ‘Hot new couple alert!’

Queer Eye won the Top Reality Show Emmy on the night.

The second season of the Netflix show, featuring Jonathan alongside Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, Tan France and Bobby Berk came out this year to excellent reviews.

Congrats to JVN and all of the Fab Five!
