Lady Gaga calls it one of the best songs of all time. And now the pop god – has covered the love song by Elton John.
Last night she told fans on social media, what an honor it was to record:
‘HERE WE ARE!!! Here’s my cover of one of the greatest songs of all time. Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Your Song.” What an honor it was to record. THAT’S ME ON THE PIANO! THIS ONES FOR YOU!!’
Originally composed and performed by gay icon Elton John, the lyrics were wrote by his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin.
Though on John’s self-titled second studio album, the song was initially released as the B-side to single Take Me to the Pilot.
But they both got airplay, and the DJs preferred Your Song leading it to get to the top 10 of the charts in several countries.
It’s been covered by a number of high profile artists since, the most popular of which was Ellie Goulding’s rendition in 2010.
First of many Elton John covers
The song is just one of a whole album of Elton John covers.
Revamp will also have We All Fall In Love Sometimes by Coldplay, Daniel by Sam Smith and Tiny Dancer by Florence + The Machine.
It’s coming out on 6 April but you can listen to the Lady Gaga song in full now.
