Oscar Isaac is talking about his Star Wars character’s love life again. In a recent interview, he said he wants to keep Poe’s love life ‘as fluid as possible’.

While speaking with the Huffington Post, he broached the topic of a favorite fan theory: that Poe is not only a great Resistance hero, but queer as well.

Pablo Hidalgo’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi ― The Visual Dictionary, the official guidebook to the film, revealed a fun fact about Poe. He wears a ring on a necklace, given to him by his mother. The guidebook says he’s ‘waiting to share it someday with the right partner’.

Fans jumped on the gender-neutral term ‘partner’.

In response to the ring, Isaac said: ‘I’m all about keeping it as fluid as possible.

‘There are a lot of interesting people in the galaxy, it’d be a shame to cut off 50 percent. I think Poe’s open to any kind of adventure.’

Sounds a bit like Donald Glover’s pansexual portrayal of Lando.

But will he have a romance with Finn?

Most fans want to see Poe share a romance with John Boyega’s Finn. It started with the first movie in the new trilogy, The Force Awakens, when Poe gave his jacket to Finn and also bit his lip.

Finn, though, has a lot on his plate.

‘I mean, just so many [love interests]. They need to all leave me alone, man. I’m trying to just be handsome and sexy on my own, and they’re interrupting,’ Boyega joked with HuffPost.

He has a deep but undefined relationship with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and shared a kiss with Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose in The Last Jedi.

Regardless of Finn, a queer Poe would be great representation. There’s very little known about his own love life — beyond that incredible chemistry he shared with Laura Dern as Holdo (also pansexual) in The Last Jedi — so there’s freedom to explore.
